MAC Face & Body Foundation

Sunday, 11 May 2014

MAC foundations and I have never really seen eye to eye; I'm still plagued by memories of orange oxidization, cakey-ness and acne eruptions from my teenage years. In all fairness to MAC, that was probably due to the fact that face wipes were my best friend, and I didn't believe in colour-matching. Anyway, I digress. MAC Face & Body foundation has made me do a 180 on my opinion of MAC foundation products. I love this foundation. First of all, the packaging is wonderful - a hygienic bottle form with a nozzle for easily controllable pouring. The shade is perfect for me and best of all, the foundation is totally buildable. It's a really runny liquid consistency, but it thickens as it warms on your skin. One layer provides a super light, fresh coverage - not quite enough for me. Cue layer two, which provides a second skin-like finish. No cakey-ness in sight! I do still need concealer and a little powder on the t-zone to set this off, but I just love this foundation for lazy days where I can fool people into thinking that I'm not wearing any foundation. It's water based and actually wears really well on my oily, sensitive skin.

MAC, we have a winner!

MAC Haute Altitude Lipstick

Thursday, 3 January 2013

Hope you guys have all had a lovely festive season and happy new year! This is my first post of 2013, which is pretty crazy. I decided to stay away from the usual Christmas and New Year posts because, in all honesty, I've been too busy trying to fit in seeing family and friends and working. But I now have a whole 2 weeks to myself to do absolutely nothing, so I plan on catching up on blogging and making up for my absence lately!

If you follow me on Twitter (@flowersatdawnn) then you might know that I'm MAC lipstick virgin. I know, I'm ashamed. However, I can proudly say that as of today, I am the owner of a new, shiny MAC lipstick! I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the Aprés Chic since I heard about it, and I thought it would be the perfect time to purchase my first lipstick, as well as a cheeky wee order of the super-hyped Stereo Rose MSF.

I chose the lipstick Haute Altitude and it was a bit of a blind order as there weren't many swatches online at the time, and the colour shown on the website isn't that accurate. But I opened it up today and I can safely say that I am not disappointed. I think it's the perfect colour for my first MAC lipstick as it's not too bold, and it's a colour that is easy to wear and something I can see myself reaching for a lot. Haute Altitude is an amplified creme finish lipstick and it's a slightly blue-toned muted pink. It's so creamy and I don't really feel it on my lips so much, which is something I love. I hate being really aware of something on my lips ie, sticky lipgloss.

You can find this lipstick here on the MAC website, where it costs £14.00 - pricey for a lipstick, but I can see myself getting so much use out of this, and it has definitely lived up to my expectations! Some of the Aprés Chic collection has sold out already (I'm looking at you, Stereo Rose!) so if anything takes your fancy then I'd suggest ordering it ASAP!

Can you remember what your first MAC lipstick was? Do you think they're worth the price?

PS: I'd love some reader feedback on my blog to help me improve in 2013. If you have 2 mins spare, I'd really appreciate your feedback! Click here to go to the survey. Thank you!

Monday Wishlist #2

Monday, 16 July 2012

1. YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation RRP £28 - I have a sample of this in shade BR20 and it is the most perfect colour match for me, something which I usually have trouble with when getting a foundation. I thought this might have been overhyped, but I'm loving it so far and dying to get the full size.

2. ASOS Felt Doctors Bag RRP £60 - I'm in desperate need of a new handbag as my current one is too small, and my others are literally falling apart. I love a big handbag, and this looks like it would go with anything.

3. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle RRP £21.50 - I've heard great things about this and considering I don't actually own ANY highlighting products, this is more of a "need" than a "want"... right?

4. MAC Cut a Caper lipstick RRP £14 - It's just typical that this is now sold out just when I've added it to my wishlist! I've never bought a MAC lipstick before but this one really caught my eye. There isn't even a counter near me so this will probably remain on my wishlist forever...

5. REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser RRP £18 - Again, I've heard lots of good things about this cleanser and I'm in the process of weaning myself off of Clinique's 3 Step System so I'd really like to try this. I have super oily skin so the idea of a clay cleanser really appeals to me!

I really had to restrain myself this week and keep my wishlist down to just 5 items. If I had things my way, I'd have a list to the moon and back!

Are there any products which you have been lusting over recently? Have you tried any of these products?
