MAC RiRi Woo

Sunday, 6 October 2013

I need to pay homage to my perfect red lipstick. MAC Riri Woo - I have finally found you, and I shall never let you go. I purchased this on a whim back when the first Riri for MAC collection was released, and I'll admit I was sucked in by the hype and I was determined to get this lipstick before it sold out (which only took a couple of hours, I might add). I wasn't looking for love, I was merely curious about what was out there but what I found has blown me away. Riri Woo is a variation of MAC's classic Ruby Woo lipstick. It's a retro matte formula so it's not the creamiest of lipsticks and it does drag when applying. However, it's the perfect red shade and it lasts forever. I swear. I hate wearing lipsticks on nights out because I'm terribly messy when I drink, so my lipstick is usually off within an hour of sloppily drinking out of a mug and having a social cigarette or 10. But with Riri Woo, I wake up after a night out with no money, no dignity, sometimes no shoes but I always have Riri Woo left on my lips. It takes a good scrub to get this stuff off!

This is just my ultimate go-to lipstick for a night out when I want to make a bold statement with my lip colour. My search for the perfect red is over, ladies and gentlemen, this love affair is truly for keeps.

MAC Haute Altitude Lipstick

Thursday, 3 January 2013

Hope you guys have all had a lovely festive season and happy new year! This is my first post of 2013, which is pretty crazy. I decided to stay away from the usual Christmas and New Year posts because, in all honesty, I've been too busy trying to fit in seeing family and friends and working. But I now have a whole 2 weeks to myself to do absolutely nothing, so I plan on catching up on blogging and making up for my absence lately!

If you follow me on Twitter (@flowersatdawnn) then you might know that I'm MAC lipstick virgin. I know, I'm ashamed. However, I can proudly say that as of today, I am the owner of a new, shiny MAC lipstick! I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the Aprés Chic since I heard about it, and I thought it would be the perfect time to purchase my first lipstick, as well as a cheeky wee order of the super-hyped Stereo Rose MSF.

I chose the lipstick Haute Altitude and it was a bit of a blind order as there weren't many swatches online at the time, and the colour shown on the website isn't that accurate. But I opened it up today and I can safely say that I am not disappointed. I think it's the perfect colour for my first MAC lipstick as it's not too bold, and it's a colour that is easy to wear and something I can see myself reaching for a lot. Haute Altitude is an amplified creme finish lipstick and it's a slightly blue-toned muted pink. It's so creamy and I don't really feel it on my lips so much, which is something I love. I hate being really aware of something on my lips ie, sticky lipgloss.

You can find this lipstick here on the MAC website, where it costs £14.00 - pricey for a lipstick, but I can see myself getting so much use out of this, and it has definitely lived up to my expectations! Some of the Aprés Chic collection has sold out already (I'm looking at you, Stereo Rose!) so if anything takes your fancy then I'd suggest ordering it ASAP!

Can you remember what your first MAC lipstick was? Do you think they're worth the price?

PS: I'd love some reader feedback on my blog to help me improve in 2013. If you have 2 mins spare, I'd really appreciate your feedback! Click here to go to the survey. Thank you!

Monday Wishlist #4

Monday, 17 September 2012

1, 2, 3, 4, 5
This dress from Miss Selfridge is making me seriously want to go shopping! I love the collar detail, the colours, the style, everything. I feel like it could be a great transitional piece for Autumn too - I'm picturing ankle boots and a leather jacket! I've heard that Hydraluron is great for dehydrated skin, which I feel that I have since my skin feels dry and flaky once I've washed it, but gets really oily throughout the day. I'm still venturing into using eyeshadow more often, so I'm sticking with neutral colours and this Stila In the Light Palette seems right up my street! I did want the UD Naked palette, but I can't justify shelling out £30-odd quid at the moment. I still don't own a MAC lipstick but I spied Vegas Volt and I'm in lust. Do I really need another coral lipstick? Yes, the answer is always yes. Finally, I made my very first Origins order last week and I want to try so much more from this brand already. The Clear Improvements mask is definitely next on my list because I do suffer from clogged pores and again, I've heard great things about this mask.

What are you lusting after this week?
