MAC Haute Altitude Lipstick

Thursday 3 January 2013

Hope you guys have all had a lovely festive season and happy new year! This is my first post of 2013, which is pretty crazy. I decided to stay away from the usual Christmas and New Year posts because, in all honesty, I've been too busy trying to fit in seeing family and friends and working. But I now have a whole 2 weeks to myself to do absolutely nothing, so I plan on catching up on blogging and making up for my absence lately!

If you follow me on Twitter (@flowersatdawnn) then you might know that I'm MAC lipstick virgin. I know, I'm ashamed. However, I can proudly say that as of today, I am the owner of a new, shiny MAC lipstick! I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the Aprés Chic since I heard about it, and I thought it would be the perfect time to purchase my first lipstick, as well as a cheeky wee order of the super-hyped Stereo Rose MSF.

I chose the lipstick Haute Altitude and it was a bit of a blind order as there weren't many swatches online at the time, and the colour shown on the website isn't that accurate. But I opened it up today and I can safely say that I am not disappointed. I think it's the perfect colour for my first MAC lipstick as it's not too bold, and it's a colour that is easy to wear and something I can see myself reaching for a lot. Haute Altitude is an amplified creme finish lipstick and it's a slightly blue-toned muted pink. It's so creamy and I don't really feel it on my lips so much, which is something I love. I hate being really aware of something on my lips ie, sticky lipgloss.

You can find this lipstick here on the MAC website, where it costs £14.00 - pricey for a lipstick, but I can see myself getting so much use out of this, and it has definitely lived up to my expectations! Some of the Aprés Chic collection has sold out already (I'm looking at you, Stereo Rose!) so if anything takes your fancy then I'd suggest ordering it ASAP!

Can you remember what your first MAC lipstick was? Do you think they're worth the price?

PS: I'd love some reader feedback on my blog to help me improve in 2013. If you have 2 mins spare, I'd really appreciate your feedback! Click here to go to the survey. Thank you!

  4. My first was plumful and I use it all the time! I think £14 is okay for a higher end lipstick compared to more expensive brands at £25! It's nice for a treat :) x

  5. That is such a beautiful shade. My first MAC lipstick is Costa Chic, I like it but I should have brought more everyday shade though :(

  6. That's such a nice shade of pink! I'm always looking for good neutral everyday pinks that won't clash with my skin tone. Thanks for reviewing this and putting up pictures, I think I might order this when I've saved up some money. :)

  10. I got all of my MAC lipsticks out earlier as I think I'm going to do a collection post and I've now got 16. I don't know how it happened. I got my first one - Pink Nouveau - at the start of last February and ever since I've bought at least one everytime I've been into Selridges, Birmingham and if I see one on a blog sale, I'll buy that too if it's not already been snapped up. The thing is though, to make them really worth it I think it's important to keep your lips in really good condition, otherwise half of the formulas just don't work well and cling or emphasise dry patches. They are expensive but they're not like YSL prices (I got one for christmas and although it is very pretty, it doesn't last particularly long and quite frankly is just way too overpriced). I know you've said you don't think your photos are very accurate of this, but you've made it look really nice and it's made me want to buy it! It seems like the amplified creme version of Please Me which is matte and is a lipstick I've worn a lottttttt!
