I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and attempt a 100 day spending ban. I'm absolutely awful with money. I have no self-control and I end up spending money as soon as it hits my bank account. I haven't been out of my overdraft in nearly 3 years, and I'm sick of constantly being in debt due to spending money that I don't have!
I have enough beauty and skincare products to last me the duration of the spending ban, so I'm making a pledge to not buy any more during the 100 days. This is going to be really difficult for me because I just can't resist what I think is a good deal, but I'm going to try my bloody hardest. I'm budgeting money for lunch and buses to college, but I'm going to try and bring my own lunch where I can. I also quit smoking as of 1st January, so I'll be recording how much money I save per week from that and adding it to a savings account, where I plan on treating myself at the end of the spending ban.
I'm not going to set any 'rules' as such, because there aren't any things that I feel I need to make exceptions for. I am not going to buy anything that isn't a necessity (ie, food). I have enough of everything else to keep me going! I'll only really be spending money on groceries, rent and bills. I'm also committing myself to 'dry January', so I won't be spending money on alcohol this month at least. As of next month, I think I'll allow myself a night out once or twice a month.
My spending ban begins today (4th January 2013) and will end on 14th April 2013. I'll be posting weekly updates with how I'm getting on! I think I'll also record any products which I'm tempted by, but resist buying, and keep a running total of how much money I've saved to motivate me.
